Gordon Boyd presented "New York's Energy Challenges 2010" at the annual meeting of the Municipal Electric and Gas Alliance on April 16, 2010 in Aurora, NY. Download his PowerPoint presentation [right click on link and save to your computer] This PowerPoint provides a statewide perspective on needed investment in energy infrastructure, transmission and delivery systems. The recession is being seen in lower market prices. Meanwhile, increased supplies of natural gas, especially from shale formations, will help keep markets down. However, regional differences in electricity pricing due to "congestion" impose a hidden tax on local economies. A national cap and trade program would not cause New York rates to rise as much as those in PA and OH where more coal is used. Further thoughts on renewables and the NYS Energy Plan.
Gordon Boyd presented at Congressman Scott Murphy's Economic Action Summit in Saratoga Springs on March 15, 2010. Download his PowerPoint presentation [right click on link and save to your computer].
